![]() Seeing all my brothers & sisters, wearing smiles and many a little older, greyer and with little ones. The most important aspect for me was the community. The traffic was bad near the stadium, the lines were long, We got in a few minutes into Half Step. My wife had never before been to a "Dead" show, but she likes the music (years of inundation). This was my first show since the Other Ones with Rusted Root at Shoreline. I decided the morning of the show to get tickets. What's been said already holds true for me too. and since then JK has grown into the band leader, and Bobby's playing is the best it's been in years. Playin' was another deep excursion, and Ripple was perfect, apparently not on the setlist since the encore read TBD. Sublime! Eleven starts with a Coltranesque jam before blossoming. Fire makes you realize that this band can play anything at anytime so toss your expectations out the window. ![]() Slipknot! threw us all off the trail, and then the way they subtly slipped in through the back door reminds me of what the Dead did in '72, wandering in and out of the central theme with the lyrics being an afterthought. I'm still making discoveries every time I listen to that Other One. Set II is a wonderful blur, the energy was so palpable. 6:00 start meant that the sun was shining on us the whole first set, which was all Jerry tunes except Minglewood, and yes Doin' that Rag went super cosmic at the end. My buddy and I got to the lot early, got inside early and got on the lawn/metal floor before I knew it. I'm glad to see that everyone agrees that this was a particularly great show. I've listened to this show about 50 times, and finally feel ready to share.
